In Pladia, a Venue serves as the central hub for your instance, while Spaces function as smaller hubs that showcase the features in your collection. Spaces are key content zones within your Venue, allowing you to display either Objects or rich media content about the Space itself. Spaces can represent rooms, exhibits, or even outdoor areas, and serve two main purposes:

1. Spaces with Objects: These Spaces showcase curated Objects from your collection and allow you to digitally position Objects within the Space. This positioning mirrors your physical venue, helping visitors locate the Objects while exploring your institution. Spaces with Objects will display in your PWA without requiring additional enriched content about the Space itself, though you can add it if you wish.

Digitally positioning your Objects within Spaces, combined with the use of Tags, enables the creation Curated Experiences in your Empower PWA.

When Objects are linked to a Space, you'll see an "In this Space" section when viewing the Space in the PWA. Clicking on this section, or scrolling to it, will display the Objects that have been connected to that Space in the Pladia Console.

2. Stand-Alone Spaces: These Spaces feature enriched content such as Images, Audio, buttons for URLs, and rich text to describe the Space itself, without requiring Objects to be placed inside.

Spaces without connected Objects will still display in your PWA if they have been enriched with their own content. In this case, the "In this Space" option will not appear.

Tip: Stand-Alone Spaces are a great way to start using Pladia quickly and can be expanded with Objects later on.

Display Requirements

For a Space to be displayed in your PWA, it must meet the following requirements:

  • The Space must be Put-On-Display.

  • The Space must either:

    • Have enriched content added to the space itself, OR

    • Have Objects associated with it.

  • The Space (and its content or Objects) must be published in a Public Bundle.

Space Setup

Once you have established the foundational elements in the system such as Venues, Buildings and Levels, you’re ready to begin adding Spaces.

Spaces can be created manually, or they may have been automatically created if you used an IMDF file to set up your Venue. Spaces created from an IMDF file cannot have their boundaries changed, but content or Objects can still be added to them.

If you’ve added your Spaces through an IMDF file, you can skip the Create Space step though you may want to edit the other details listed below.

Steps to add your Spaces to the Pladia Console

Broken down into three parts - Details, Placement, and Content Blocks

Details

  1. Select Spaces from the left navigation in the Console.

  2. Select Create Space in the upper right corner of the Spaces screen.

  3. Add details to your Space Name, Display Name (how you want it to look to your visitors), Short description (to be displayed if the space is featured via featured tags), Image, and Audio.

    1. Tip: Use descriptive names that will make sense to other operators managing the Console.

  4. Add a Hero Image to your Space by clicking the plus sign (+) shown.

    1. The Hero Image will be what displays with your Space Name when a visitor is looking at your Spaces within your PWA.

      2. Click Select to continue.

  5. Add Audio to your Space by clicking the plus sign (+) shown.

  2. Click on the plus (+) sign to reveal the content options.

    1. You can add Text, an Image, a Button, or all three.

  4. Continue adding all Spaces within your Venue until you have completed this process for your institution (unless adding a single Space).

  5. To put the Space on display, select Put On Display.

    1. To note: You will still need to publish your Space to make it visible to your end users.

  6. To edit a Space, click the Space you wish to edit and then execute all changes within the text box on the right of your screen.

  7. To delete a Space, click on your item within the Spaces Setup list, then click the three dots in the pop-up box on the right-hand side of the page and select Delete.

Congratulations! You have successfully added Spaces to the Console. Please feel free to reach out to Customer Success if you have further questions.
