App Structure

To fully utilize the configuration options, it's essential to understand the app structure. The app structure mirrors your venue structure, allowing for detailed configuration of various elements within the app. This layered approach ensures that the app accurately represents the physical layout and hierarchy of your venue. By configuring these elements, you can create an intuitive and engaging experience for visitors.

  • Venue address

    • This is used for map configuration.

    • It is not visitor-facing.

  • App name

    • Technically this is visitor-facing, but it will only be displayed in rare scenarios.

      • Ask your Pladia Customer Success Manager for more details.

  • Subtitle

    • This is a short text field that you can configure.

      • The subtitle is presented on your PWA discover/landing screen as shown below.

      • Using a subtitle is optional.

Discover/Landing Screen

  • Featured Tags

    • Allow you to showcase specific tags on your landing screen, as shown above.

      • These help shape your visitor experience.

        • Check out Advanced Tagging for additional context on how featured tags could be used.

      • A maximum of 6 tags will be displayed.

  • Featured Spaces

    • Featured Spaces allow you to showcase specific published spaces in your Venue on the PWA landing screen.

      • The use of Featured Spaces is optional.

        • If you do not allocate Featured Spaces the PWA will adapt to what you have configured in the Pladia Console.

      • There is no limit on the number of Featured Spaces you may allocate and display as they are displayed on an infinite scrolling carousel.

      • The minimum requirements for Spaces to display as a Featured Space are:

        • The Space must have a Name

        • The Space must have:

          1. Objects associated with the Space

            OR

          2. Audio attached to the Space

            OR

          3. Have Content attached to the Space itself

        • Although it is not mandatory, we highly recommend attaching a Hero Image to your Space. Without it, the Featured Space will appear with a blank grey square, which may impact the visitor experience. Including a Hero Image enhances the visual appeal and helps visitors better connect with the Space.

Featured spaces appear under the heading “What’s On”

  • In the Pladia Console, you can:

    • Input your Building Address.

    • Draw the boundary of your facility.

  • Level Name

    • This will be used in the app if you utilize the "Space and Object" feature.

      • Example: "Level 2"

  • Short Name

    • This may be used for the map view.

      • Example: "L2"

  • Level Index

    • This is the number used to order your levels.

      • Ground = 0

  • Level Boundary

    • Your level boundary defines where spaces and points of interest are placed.

These are the Spaces on the Ground floor of the "Rokeby Street" venue.

All of the fields below are optional, but there is a minimum amount of information required to be published in the app.

The minimum data required for a Space to be displayed is:

  • A Space Name

    • AND

      • Content Block(s)

        • AND/OR

      • Audio attached to the Space

        • AND/OR

      • Objects associated to the Space.

The design in your PWA app will adapt based on what information you include for the fields below.

  • Space Name

    • The "Space Name" field identifies a specific area or room on a level within a building.

    • This is typically a concise, descriptive name that helps users easily locate or refer to the space, perhaps by referencing the venue’s physical signage.

      • Examples include: "Gallery 3," "Conference Room A," or "Main Hall.”

  • Display Name

    • The "Display Name" field provides the title or name of the exhibition, event, or display that will be hosted in the space.

    • This name is usually more descriptive and engaging, aimed at attracting visitors or participants.

      • Examples include: "Spring Art Exhibition," "Pictures of Tokyo" or "Winter Gala Concert.

  • Short Description

    • This will be displayed if the space is featured in the Empower app.

  • Space Image

    • This will be your visual representation of that space.

    • This image always fills the space in the Empower app and does not follow the default image settings in the app settings

  • Space Audio

    • This audio behaves the same as object audio but it is tied to the space you are configuring.

  • Space Content Blocks

    • Space content blocks give you the ability to add rich text, image carousels, and links within your space descriptions.

  • Space boundary

    • Space boundaries are the digital representation of physical areas on any level of your building

    • You can use these to:

      • Publish additional curatorial content to provide more context

      • Place objects and/or define the actual boundary of the space on your visitor-facing map if you have one configured.

Single Space Details

As with spaces, these fields are optional but a minimum amount of information is required if you'd like to present the POI in the app.

POIs can be displayed as "Standard" or "Enriched" with differing minimum requirements as listed below.

  • Point of Interest name

    • The name identifies a specific POI like a bathroom, cafe, or stage.

      • Example: "Cafe"

  • Display Name

    • This is an additional optional title.

  • Category/icon

    • This is a dropdown field to select the POI icon.

    • Content blocks give you the ability to add rich text, image carousels, and links within your POI descriptions.

  • POI Placement

    • POIs can be placed anywhere on a level to be shown in the Space and Object view and your visitor-facing map (if configured).

Standard POI

A Standard displayed POI guides visitors to important points in your venue within the Space and Object Content experience and the visitor-facing map.

  • At a minimum, for a Standard POI to be displayed in your PWA you must include:

    • A category/icon

    • Placement on a level within your venue.

    • You can also include a Display name OR Point of Interest Name.

  • Standard POIs are displayed as icons or “chips”(shown below) along with the title that has been configured. They are displayed associated to the level that they have been placed on in the Space and Object Content experience within your Pladia console.

  • Standard POIs are also displayed as unclickable icons on your visitor-facing map.

Enriched POI

Optionally you can configure a POI to be Enriched by configuring additional content for your point to provide further context or additional links. For example, a cafe menu.

  • At a minimum, for a POI to be displayed as Enriched, you must include:

    • A category/icon.

    • Placement on a level within your venue.

    • A Hero image

      • AND/OR

    • Content configured using the content blocks function.

    • You can also include a Display name OR Point of Interest Name.

  • Enriched POIs are displayed as clickable "cards"(shown below) along with their title on the level that they have been placed on in the Space and Object Content experience.

  • Enriched POIs are also displayed as clickable pins on your visitor-facing map.

Enriched POI “Cards” for the Museum Store and Cafe.

Standard POI “Chips” under “also available” text.

Enriched POI in Purple, Standard POI in Black

As with spaces and POIs, these fields are optional but a minimum amount of information is required if you'd like to present the Object in the app.

Only the "Object Name" is required for an object to be available in your PWA.

  • Object name

    • The main title/heading of the object.

  • Media/materials

    • A free-text field to express what the object is made of.

      • Example: "oil on canvas, 10 x 10 cm"

  • Dates

    • A free text field to display the date of creation.

      • Example: "1860s" or "1864" or "circa. 1865"

  • Wall ID

    • The wall ID can be presented in the app or switched off.

    • It can also be used to order object lists if it is present.

  • Hero image

    • The hero image will be used above the object title if present.

  • Creator/s

    • Artist/s name and details.

  • Tags

    • Can be used for custom grouping the objects.

  • Audio

    • An audio file for audio context about the specific object.

  • Object content blocks

    • Content blocks provide the ability to add rich text, image carousels, and links within your object descriptions.

  • Placement options for each object

    • Objects can be placed in buildings selected within your venue.

      • This is the minimum requirement to have it displayed within your PWA.

      • Objects will show up in tags and searches.

    • Objects can be placed in a space selected within a building, or within your venue.

      • This will also show the object in the context of the space it's been assigned to.

    • Specific location within a space, level, or building/outdoors

      • This will show the object's actual location on the visitor map once/if that has been configured.

      • This placement also makes the 'nearby objects' calculation more precise.
