In Pladia, Tags are essential for customizing your institution's PWA experience and assisting your team with the organization of Objects within your Empower Console. This article will explain what tags are, why they're important, and provide a quick guide on how to use them effectively.
What Are Tags?
Tags are customizable labels that form the foundation for creating curated experiences and collections within Pladia. They enable operators to categorize content effectively, enhancing navigation and leading to a more engaging experience for visitors. By highlighting specific objects, exhibitions, features, or themes, tags play a crucial role in organizing information. They can also be used internally without being displayed publicly or featured prominently on the PWA landing page to spotlight particular objects or collections.
Why Tags Matter
Organizational Tool: Tags categorize content, enabling visitors to explore the PWA easily while helping staff quickly locate objects needing updates or adjustments, including those that should be taken off or put back on-display.
Navigation Enhancement: Tags facilitate smoother exploration by guiding users through exhibits and collections.
Engagement Boost: Strategic tag usage enhances visitor experiences by directing them to relevant content that piques their interest.
Using Tags
You can effectively incorporate tags into your objects for better organization and visitor engagement in two main ways:
Adding Tags During Object Creation: When creating new objects, you can add tags, regardless of whether the tags already exist.
For additional information about Object creation, please see this article.
Tagging Existing Objects: You can also revisit previously created objects at any time to add tags.
Adding Tags to Objects
Navigate to the Objects Screen: Select Objects in the left navigation.
Select an Object or Create a New One:
To Tag an Existing Object: Search for and click on the object you want to tag.
To Create a New Object: Click Create Object.
Scroll to the Tags Section: Scroll down to the Tags section in the object details.
Click Add Tag: Click the Add Tag button to open the tagging options.
Type the Tag Name: Enter the tag name in the search box. The system will check if that tag already exists.
Select an Existing Tag: If the tag appears in the search results, click on it to select the existing tag.
Create a New Tag: If the tag doesn’t exist, click on the Create Tag option below your typed entry to create your new tag.
Note: The capitalization used will be how the tag displays to your visitors in the PWA.
Reviewing Associated Tags:
Reviewing associated tags is essential for maintaining an organized system and ensuring that the right objects are tagged accurately. By regularly checking the tags linked to specific objects, you can quickly identify any discrepancies or opportunities for better categorization, enhancing overall navigation and improving the visitor experience.
Editing or Removing Tags:
To remove a Tag, click the X next to the Tag and confirm the deletion.
These changes will need to be published in a public bundle to be visible to your visitors in the PWA
Congratulations! You have successfully added tags to your objects. Remember, tags are powerful tools for enhancing the navigation of your institution's PWA experience. By mastering the basics of tagging and implementing them effectively, you can significantly improve visitor engagement and ease of exploration.
