Overview
Our Image Recognition feature helps visitors access exhibition content in real-time, providing mobile artwork identification. With Image Recognition, visitors simply point their camera at one of your objects using the Empower PWA. The system instantly identifies the object so you can open its dedicated page, showing rich content such as text, images, audio, and more.
To enable this feature for visitors, a Console user needs to select "Enable image recognition scanner" in App Settings. It works exclusively with Object images.
Feature Benefits
Image Recognition enhances the visitor experience and streamlines operations:
Enhance Visitor Experience: It provides visitors with instant access to detailed information on each piece, allowing them to delve deeper into exhibits at their own pace and according to their interests. This transforms passive viewing into a fully immersive and interactive experience.
Personalize Learning: The technology can be incorporated into interactive educational tools, games, and quizzes that reinforce learning and make the experience more engaging.
Streamline Operations: It automates the identification of artworks instantly, helping Venues streamline operations, especially for frequently changing exhibitions. This reduces dependency on physical QR code labels and frees up staffing resources.
How It Works
Visitors follow three simple steps to use Image Recognition:
Access Scanner: Your visitor taps the scan button located near the search bar. This opens the camera, where they are prompted to hold up a QR code for instant recognition, or center an artwork or object in the frame to snap a photo.
Capture Image: The visitor manually taps the camera button to take a photo of the object they want to identify, and the captured image is instantly processed.
View Results: After processing, the user sees a screen showing the photo they submitted and a carousel or list of matched results. They can now tap the object to view its full details or tap “Scan Again” to try again.
