Updated this week

We've made a bunch of tweaks to make things smoother! You can now use Get Directions to Tour Stops, click through to linked objects and spaces from tour stops, add intro text under the logo in the PWA, and include subtitles on objects.

🗺️ Empower Tour Enhancements

We've focused on making the visitor journey through Tours more intuitive:

  • Get Directions to Tour Stops: We've added a Get Directions button on the map cards for Tour Stops to make navigation clearer and help visitors find their way, complete with step-by-step directions.

From the Tour map cards for Tour Stops, click the arrow to Get Directions (integrate with your configured Pathway).

  • Deep Linking from Tour Stops: Visitors can now click through to linked Objects and Spaces directly from tour stops for a deeper dive into the content.

  • Audio Access+ in Tours: Audio Access+ is now available for Tours so that visitors can choose to listen to tour audio content either via headphones, phone to ear, or a transcript.

📝 Content Flexibility

You now have more control over how content is displayed in the PWA:

  • Subtitle for Objects: You can now add subtitles to your Objects.

    • Subtitles appear beneath the Object name and can be used for anything that suits your content, giving you more flexibility.

    • This update removes the old limitation where the subheading could only display Creator or Date. Those fields now appear below the description.

    • For existing customers, any existing Creator or Date values have been automatically migrated into the Subtitle field to preserve how your objects currently look. Going forward, you can enter whatever subtitle you prefer.

New Object subtitle field in the PWA.

  • Alternative Terminology for Objects: You can now choose alternative terminology for Objects in the new Settings page.

    • This helps the platform feel more relevant for industries where “Objects” doesn't fit the content.

    • You can select from a curated list of terms. The first option available is Items, and we'll expand this list over time.

Click your User icon to open more options in the navigation panel. Select Settings to change your terminology.

  • PWA Welcome Message: There’s a new introduction field in App Settings, letting you add a welcome message right under your logo in the PWA.

🛠️ Console Usability

  • Wall IDs Update: Wall IDs now accept any characters and any length you need. We’ve also updated the PWA design to accommodate longer Wall IDs.

  • Last Edited Visibility: On the Console Releases page, you can now see who last edited each item directly from the release view.

  • List Item Display: List items have had a glow up, including updates to their icons and card presentation.

👂 Audio Access+ Update for Android Users

Due to Google’s deprecation of "Instant Apps," the workflow for Phone-to-ear on Android will change.

  • Audio Access+ options: Audio Access+ is designed to provide an inclusive experience by offering your visitors three distinct ways to engage: standard Headphones, the text-based Transcript, and our unique Phone-to-ear mode.

  • New flow for Android users on first click: When an Android user selects "Phone-to-ear" for the first time, they will be directed to the Google Play Store to install the app.

  • Seamless Return: Pladia’s deep-linking technology ensures that once installed, the visitor is routed back to their content to begin listening.

Note: This change applies only to Android devices. The experience for iOS users remains unchanged.

Why the extra step? The Phone-to-ear mode relies on specific device sensors to recognize when the phone is held correctly to auto-play and pause. Installing the full app ensures this sensor technology works reliably and securely across the Android ecosystem.

🐞Bug Fixes

We've resolved several issues to improve stability and display consistency:

  • Resolved an issue where the pin icon displayed incorrectly when there was no image associated with a stop, and an issue where the pin did not always display centered in the Space.

  • Fixed the font blending issue in dark mode, ensuring the "no results found" message is readable against the background.

  • Addressed a problem with the transcript overlay that prevented users from dismissing it by swiping down.

  • Improved the responsiveness of the image recognition results drawer, eliminating lag during dragging.

  • Corrected a routing issue where wheelchair accessibility was incorrectly indicated when it shouldn't be.

  • Improved adaptive button block display to accommodate portrait and landscape images. When a landscape image is used, the PWA displays the button block with a stacked layout and if a portrait image is used then the PWA displays a 2 column layout.

  • Addressed a problem with tour stop display when no audio is attached to remove the play button.

  • Optimized Console Tag Manager to show newly created tags without refreshing.

  • Fixed an issue in the Console that prevented users from deleting Spaces and Objects if they were attached to a deleted Tour.

Thank you for being a valued part of the Pladia community!
